The cable cars Karkogel and Sonnleiten as well as the Postalm in Abtenau offer a variety of winter activities, such as skiing, snowboarding, tobogganing, cross-country skiing and fun sports in the snow. Dachstein West ski region with 160 kilometers of slopes is only a few kilometers from Abtenau and offers long runs and extensive slope fun.
